The story
The unknown David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes from Trapeze shared the vocals, giving the band two strong voices with very different sounds.
Burn (1974) showed a band at full power, while Hughes pulled the sound towards soul and funk. The same year they played California Jam in front of several hundred thousand people.
After Stormbringer, Ritchie Blackmore had had enough of the new direction, and in 1975 he left to form Rainbow.
